Latest Announcements by Plastic Packaging Industry Leaders

  • In March 2025, According to Kate Daly, Managing Partner of Closed Loop Partners' Centre for the Circular Economy, the company was excited to test findings and, through the Consortium to Recover Small-Format Packaging, deploy equipment and infrastructure upgrades to drive real-world proof-of-concepts in the field. The company must develop ways to collect valuable small-format materials that might otherwise wind up in landfills, such as polypropylene.  Given the widespread usage of small-format packaging across the retail, catering, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries, this problem is inevitably cross-industry.  The Closed Loop Partners' Centre for the Circular Economy is encouraging companies from a variety of industries and the company’s research-phase partners to join the Consortium and contribute to solving an urgent waste problem.

New Advancements in Plastic Packaging Industry

  • On March 31, 2025, Placon, a pioneer in sustainable, creative thermoformed food packaging, announced the debut of its new Fresh 'n Clear Dip Cup line for dips, spreads, and hummus.  In response to growing consumer demand for more environmentally friendly food packaging choices for the expanding market for hummus, spread, and dip, the dip cup line was created.  The dip cups and matching lids are constructed from Placon's exclusive EcoStar material, which has a #1 resin code and at least 10% recycled PET. Stacking and retailing are made simple by the product line's circular shape and recyclable crystal-clear packaging.
  • In October 2024, Placon announced the launch of a new stock line of BargerGard TPU pouches and tip protectors, further solidifying its position as a global leader in medical packaging.  To protect sharp and rough medical equipment, such as drills, screws, needles, catheters, and porous coated implants, the new product line includes bags with and without flaps as well as a range of tip protectors. The product line is composed of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), a non-abrasive substance that guards against scratches and dents on trays and gadgets as well as protecting polished and completed surfaces.
