New Advancements in the Market

  • On 1 July 2025, Dow introduced a new BOPE film resin, INNATE TF 220, designed for fully recyclable flexible packaging. The resin enhances production efficiency and durability while reducing manufacturing waste. In China, detergent brand Liby adopted the resin with 10% post-consumer recycled content in its Floral Era line, one of the first fully recyclable detergent packs in the market.
  • In July 2025, RMD Group launched a multiboard barrier on a carton board coated with 3-5% polyethylene to provide moisture and grease resistance. The product is designed for frozen, detergent, and pet food packaging, offering recyclability through minimal PE use heat heat-sealed without extra adhesives.
  • On 9 July 2025, Veolia announced a substantial 70 million investment to build its largest plastic recycling facility to date in Britain. The plant will enable closed-loop recycling of PET trays into food-grade materials for the UK grocery market and is set to begin operations in early 2026. Veolia is urging the UK government to enhance plastic tax incentives to support the broader plastic recycling economy.
  • On 18 June 2025, Lacerta Group unveiled its Seal N Flip packaging, a novel PE design that repositions the lidding film base side. The design reportedly reduces packaging costs by up to 25% catering to businesses focusing on cost-effective and sustainable food packaging solutions.
  • In May 2025, AE Global announced the launch of new verified plastic-negative and plastic-neutral certifications for product packaging.
  • In January 2025, Cirkla announced the launch of the world’s first molded fiber Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) trays, which decrease the wastage of plastic by 85%.
