  • In January 2025, Bea Perez, Global Chief Communications, Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships Officer and Executive Vice President and at The Coca‑Cola Company stated that with the announcement of a number of new environmental goals for 2035, The Coca-Cola Company updated and replaced its existing targets in the areas of water, packaging, and emissions. In some cases, it also softened and retracted its previous ambitions, such as its goal to increase the use of recycled materials, which was previously set at 50% by 2030 but is now set at 35% to 40% by 2035.

  • In June 2025, UKHI formally unveiled EcoGran, a ground-breaking biodegradable biopolymer, at Vigyan Bhawan, marking a significant milestone for Indias cleantech future.   • In May 2025, the Istanbul-based extrusion coating expert Metpack provides coated paper and paperboard that is DIN EN 13432 certified home compostable for environmentally friendly food packaging. BASFs ecovio 70 PS14H6 is a good coating for Metpacks paper Ezycompost. The biopolymer gives paper used for food packaging a number of useful benefits and is approved for home composting (EN 13432 and AS 5810). It has outstanding barrier qualities against liquids, fats, grease, and mineral oil in addition to temperature stability at boiling water (up to 100°C) and is FDA-approved for food contact.
  • On 7 November 2024, UPM Speciality Papers and Eastman collaborated to create a new biopolymer -coated paper packaging solution crafted for food products needing for food products demanding oxygen barriers and grease. This solution integrates Eastmans bio-based Solus additives with BioPBSTM polymer to create a thin coating on UPMs recyclable and compostable base papers.
  • On 6 November 2024, Walki has entered into a strategic partnership with Lactips to make fully "biodegradable, plastics-free” food packaging using natural polymers, crafted to be fully recyclable in the paper stream.
  • On 26th September 2024, top bio-polymer producer Braskem revealed a bio-polypropylene product generated from used cooking oil (UOC) sold under the brand name “ WENEW”, a product aimed at the restaurant and snack food industries, which was stated by the company on 16 September.
  • On 2 September 2024, CISRO, Australias national science agency, and Murdoch University revealed the Bioplastics Innovation Hub, a USD 8 million partnership which will work with industry partners to create a new generation of 100% compostable plastic.
