Lecta, a leading European specialty paper manufacturer, introduced ‘Adestor Gloss GP PFAS-free’, a new label solution specially designed to tailor food packaging solutions. The launch is helping the company to expand its self-adhesive material portfolio, which is in line with the environmental and health regulations. The new label offers a grease-resistant label without the use of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

The new label solution is made from C011032-certified paper from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which helps in providing high resistance and performance to oils and grease. The new label is highly suited for products like cured meats, ready meals, oils, and cheeses.

Rogar Puente Vila-Masana, the Product Manager and business development manager of Lecta, mentioned, “At Lecta SelfAdhesives, we are fully committed to developing solutions that address today’s technical challenges while contributing to environmental protection. He further added, “With Adestor Gloss GP PFASfree, we   are taking a decisive step toward safer, more responsible labelling that meets market expectations.”

Why is Lecta eliminating the use of PFAS?

Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that resist heat, stains, grease, and water. These chemicals are mainly found in the food chain due to their wider use in various consumer products. They are often referred to as forever chemicals as they are persistent in the human body and environment, which also leads to various health risks, like thyroid, liver, and cancer issues.
