EcoCortec, a leading sustainable corrosion protection packaging company, and its daughter company, Cortec Corporation, with their partner Jakob Schober GmbH, were recognized with the German Packaging Award 2025 in the Sustainable category. The partnership helped both companies to establish a practical recycling system for their green VPCL corrosion protection bags and films.
Boris Miksic, the CEO of Cortec Corporation, said that they are honored and proud to receive this award in the sustainable category. He further said,
“The German packaging market is by far the largest in Europe, and we were nominated for this most important category. This is the first time that a VCI company has received such a prestigious award. It shows just how dedicated we are to our vision of sustainability. Secondly, it proves that the corrosion protection industry can indeed be very compatible with environmental awareness and protecting our communities.”
He concluded by saying that their partnership with Jakob Schober GmbH has helped them to make their circular economy idea into a practical thing. The jury also mentioned that many companies mention the circular economy for marketing terms, but there are a few ones who implement it in real life. He believes their project serves as a clear mission with the help of a dedicated set of professionals. Miksic also expressed that their company is expanding its achievements, which will help in setting a more impactful example in the packaging industry.
The new recyclable film VpCL incorporates up to 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, which reduces the reliance on virgin materials.
The award is considered to be the region's largest and significant in the packaging industry. It is mainly organized by the German Packaging Institute with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
