Mura Technology declared its strategy to develop a 50 kilotonnes per annum (kta) service in Singapore. This symbolizes an important milestone in the industry’s extension in Asia, as it links current services functioning under authorization from Mura by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation in Japan. This is presently being custom-made by LG Chem in South Korea, which is joined with Mura’s particular UK facility in Wilton, Teesside, UK, and will total 60kta of liquid circular hydrocarbon production capacity by 2025.
The new service will be located on Jurong Island inside the Singapore Essential Chemicals Complex (SECC), and Mura has newly acquired rights to a place from PCS Pte. Ltd. (PCS). Mura has also unlocked a Singapore office to help with this planned extension.
Southeast Asia’s projected group of 56 million tonnes of mishandled plastic waste yearly by 2050 generates both a crucial ecological challenge and an important resource opportunity. As the region’s leading hub for business, invention, and circular economy management, Singapore offers the perfect platform for Mura’s new service to recycle limited and provincial plastic waste into the best circular feedstocks.
Through partnership with local corporations and Singapore’s National Environment Agency, it is supposed to protect a high amount of plastic waste from Singapore as feedstock for its capabilities. This will be accompanied by the significance of handled and confirming Recovered Plastic Feedstock from regional bases, helping Southeast Asia’s determination for plastic waste.
Dr Steve Mahon, CEO of Mura Technology, expressed:
“Southeast Asia, with its high plastic consumption, rapid population growth and accelerating urbanisation, is a critical region in the fight against plastic pollution. Expanding into Singapore marks a strategic milestone in our mission to build a global circular plastic economy. With its prime location, robust infrastructure, and strong government vision, Singapore offers the ideal foundation for our first facility in the region.”
