SCGP is strengthening its growth strategy in the foodservice packaging sector by expanding its international marketing and export capabilities. The company is accelerating investments to enhance its foodservice packaging production in response to emerging customer megatrends. As part of this expansion, SCGP plans to increase the output of pressboard foodservice packaging and molded pulp products by an additional 1,838 million pieces annually. These initiatives, aimed at capturing opportunities in overseas markets, require a total investment of 631-million-baht, underscoring SCGP’s commitment to driving sustainable growth and meeting rising global demand.
Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited, SCGP, expressed that, according to the Company’s assessment, demands for foodservice packing endure to stay on the upward trend as a result of altering customer lifestyles, as take outs and home delivery through several apps have become a megatrend that will donate positively to the development of foodservice packaging businesses. The complete outlook for the foodservice business in ASEAN between 2021 and 2024 is poised to rise by an average of 6-7% a year.
In response to rising consumer demand and shifting lifestyles, SCGP has been steadily expanding its foodservice packaging production in recent years. Its operations in Thailand and Malaysia have grown to serve markets across ASEAN and Japan, while the recent acquisition of Go-Pak UK Limited (Go-Pak) strengthens SCGP’s capacity to reach and expand its global customer base.
SCGP is set to invest in two new projects to drive the growth of its foodservice packaging operations. Production at the Ratchaburi plant in Thailand and the Binh Duong plant in Vietnam is expected to increase by 1,615 million pieces annually. Commercial operations for both projects are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2021.
At the same time, SCGP is increasing production of molded pulp packaging by 223 million pieces annually at its Kanchanaburi plant, with commercial operations expected to start in the second quarter of 2022. The total investment for both projects is 631 million baht, aimed at boosting production capacity to meet growing market demand for foodservice packaging, particularly in international markets.
“After achieving our expansion strategies, we expect our annual revenue to upsurge by 35% as a result of the amplified production volumes from the current foodservice packaging processes in Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam united, which will contribute to our continued development in ASEAN and beyond,” declares Mr. Wichan.
