Tomra Reuse introduced a Reuse Collection Point (RCP) at the Reuse Economy Expo, primarily designed to serve as a platform for collecting, sanitizing, transporting, and quality-assuring reusable takeaways. The new initiative by Tomra tracks the transportation journey of the items in cafes, restaurants, and bars through QR codes placed in these containers, which also helps in tracking the return process.
The distribution partners are gaining rapid demand for subscription models due to the expansion of online services. The system also checks how many times the reusable cup has been used, which also helps in tracking the data of single-use cups, which are thrown away. The company had earlier started its program in Aarhus, Denmark, back in January 2024. The people pay 5 Danish Kroner as a deposit when they take a cup, and further, the machine returns the money on receiving the cup is returned. Tomra also reported that around 1 million cups have been returned so far, which accounts for around 85%.
The company is also focused on innovating Rotake Venu, which will focus on big venues like stadiums or halls. This initiative is gaining rapid attention, which will soon mark a launch in the market. Another product called T70 Dual BottleGuide was launched to help in the CITEO Reuse Project, which will help in reusing packaging in France.
Tomra introduced TOMRA B7 at the start of this year, which was their first Trisort link focused on making drink containers accessible for small businesses and markets. The B7 is gaining investments from these businesses as they target cans, glass, and refillable bottles. The company is also advancing in AI, which can upgrade aluminium scrap processors and recyclers.
