The food and beverage packaging materials market will grow significantly from 2025 to 2034. This growth is driven by the rising demand for sustainable, safe, and convenient packaging. New eco-friendly materials and smart packaging technologies are changing the industry.
Recent Developments by Key Market Players
- In February 2025, Tetra Pak revealed that it has launched packaging materials in India that incorporate certified recycled polymers. According to reports, the materials used consist of 5% ISCC PLUS certified recycled polymers that were procured and distributed using the ISCC mass balance attribution method. The polymers, in turn, are composed of a blend of chemically recycled and virgin elements; the recycled material is said to be of the same quality as its fossil-based counterpart and to comply with the same international food contact standards. The solution is to comply with the recently revised Plastic Waste Management Rules of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, which will take effect on April 1, 2025.
- In February 2025, Berry Global Group, Inc. and Mars partnered together to switch to 100% recycled plastic packaging for the pantry jars of the SKITTLES, M&M and STARBURST brands—with the exception of the jar lids. This accomplishment builds on the 2022 debut of the pantry jars with 15 percent recycled plastic and furthers the ongoing partnership between Berry and Mars to create packaging with recycled material. Mars is revamping 12,000 packaging components and pushing the limits of packaging innovation with the help of hundreds of Mars Associates and partnerships with companies like Berry.
