Currie Group Expands Flexible Packaging Capabilities with Uteco and Bimec Partnerships

Currie Group has strengthened its position in the converting and flexible packaging sector through a new smart distribution deal with the two European leaders, Bimec and Uteco. With this agreement, Currie will expand access to the robust rotogravure, slitting, and flexographic technologies throughout New Zealand, the Pacific islands, and Australia. This decision will broaden the recognition of the Currie throughout the high-volume converting sector.

The firm has hired a sole regional distributor for Uteco’s expanding portfolio of digital printing equipment, flexographic, laminators, customised systems, coaters, and rotogravure, including Bimec’s popular slitter-rewinders for laminates, films, and paper.

These two OEMs are additional members of the European Flex-Converting Alliance (FlexCA). The FlexCA is a syndicate comprising ENCA, Smartjet, Vision, and CMG that provides unified solutions across the entire packaging production chain. The Currie Group will now have access to the reach, expertise, and merged technologies of these manufacturers via a single, locally lifted channel.

Bimec and Uteco have been known faces in the ANZ region for many years through Web Dynamics and Flexo Australia. Currie has been closely engaged with these agents for months to facilitate an easy transformation that will add value and help customers across the region.

Following this agreement, Reno Lauriola from Flexo Australia will be part of the Currie Group team, adding feathers to this deal with its expertise and experience, and Jade Gillard from Web Dynamics will relinquish the Bimec agency to pursue a different business interest.

With the industry’s strong support network and extensive local service, Currie’s new collaboration will offer an integrated pack of laminating, slitting, coating, and printing solutions for both packaging producers and converters seeking superior performance and automation.

Currie Group director, labels and packaging ANZ, Mark Daws, said,

“The collaboration is lined up with the exponential growth in flexible packaging and shows a logical expansion of the company’s extensive packaging offering. The flexible packaging space is hitting a substantial growth, and this new partnership is a prominent step in extending our offering to the increased converting sector with the integrated touch of excellent value proposition provided by the wide FlexCA, Uteco, and Bimec alliance.”

Daws added, “In the future, we are eager to welcome our new partners to the region and our new and previous customers.”
