Mondi is a champion in sustainable paper and packaging, making the company stronger than ever. Now, it is a valuable partner to the food industry, thanks to its extensive food packaging portfolio. The portfolio now includes digital printing potential and solid board solutions, while the company steps into the acquisition of Schumacher Packaging. This acquisition will enhance Mondi’s ability to deliver to customers across Europe.
Along with this development, Mondi provides a robust range of food packaging in the vast market. The solid and corrugated board travelling at full speed, promoting flexible packaging, will be a new milestone and an opportunity to expand recognition globally. The extension will enable Mondi to help customers meet emerging EU regulations, rising demand, and consumers' expectations for comfort, out-of-the-box packaging, and sustainability.
Mondi’s extensive deal is made to provide a well-designed model or solution to identify the crucial trends that are boosting and transforming the food packaging industry today. Compact and featherweight components, high-performance fiber-based materials, refined material use, and smaller packs are key goals to tick for better consumer convenience. The company will also focus on other trends, such as point-of-sale displays and Retail Ready Packaging (RRP) solutions, to advance shelf transparency and bolster brand recognition.
Chief Operating Officer Corrugated Solutions, Paulus Goess, said,
“The food sector is under the immersive quick change, focusing on sustainability, EU legislations, and influencing consumer behaviors, with each characterizing new requirements for packaging. By expanding our portfolio, we can offer guidance to help customers respond to these trends with better solutions that are sustainable, lighter, and refined enough for shelf appeal.”
Mondi’s solid and corrugated board portfolio will cover many essential aspects of the food industry. The expansion into fresh produce will include Mondi’s Grow&Go portfolio’s ventilated trays, stackable trays, and boxes. For meat, seafood, and poultry, leakproof boxes, wraps, sleeves, and high-strength trays will keep products safe and extend shelf life, accelerating branding.
For dairy, multipacks, sleeves, and ventilated trays are the safest packaging for refrigerated storage and transport. For beverages: wraparounds, clips, and trays for PET bottles, and a TankerBox for heavy and large transportation. Likewise, there are best-in-class packaging for frozen foods, snacks, and confectionery.
