Sabert Launches Sustainable Pulp Packaging Solutions for Home Composting

Sabert Corporation Europe introduced its recyclable and full-fledged home-compostable foodservice packaging range. This new packaging is made of renewable resources, especially plants, with no unnecessary PFAS, with full compliance with its manufacturing.

Senior vice president and managing director for Sabert Europe, Alex Noake, said, “We have decided to take time to revise our decision rather than just rushing into the market. Most of the PFAS-free solutions that we tested didn’t meet excellence and have been flooded with requests from customers who see us in a position as a credible pulp innovator. We with full trust deliver pulp packaging that’s home compostable, reliable, recyclable, and food safe in heavy food service demand and retail environments.”

To comply with new regulatory requirements, the company revolutionized its full pulp portfolio into a home-compostable range. Sabert, standing on this foundation, launched Pulp Ultra. It’s a future-proof, PFAS-free formulation that meets customers' expectations and legislative standards and is best suited for greater heat resistance and strength.

This packaging will be racked in stores early next year. These promising ranges will give customers the choice between a high-performance solution and a standard home-compostable alternative. Both solutions meet the company’s quality standard.

Sabert’s quality environment, health, and safety manager, Isabelle Ernotte, said, “In Sabert, food safety is a priority above the rest of the operations. Each of the products we produce is strictly tested to adhere to the food safety standards. Our dedication and promise is to support customers to transform confidently and responsibly as the necessary new legislation is in line.”

Sabert’s existing pulp ranges contain PFAS, which are deemed safe for use and fully compliant with the latest European, national, and UK food-contact regulations. Recent regulatory updates have introduced restrictions and limits on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often called ‘forever chemicals’ due to their persistence in the human body and the environment.

The company’s new innovative solutions can help customers stay prepared and compliant with evolving sustainability standards. Noake added, “Our company has over 40 years of experience delivering value-added, creative, and best-in-class products with high-quality standards, supported by exceptional customer service.”
