SKF, a manufacturer of high-quality bearings, seals, and related goods, recently presented a new packaging pattern for its vehicle aftermarket goods. This overview was an extension of a worldwide rollout of the new packaging that was underway in 2016. In addition to harmonizing the worldwide packaging, SKF, encouraged by the 140th anniversary (in 2018) of the founding of Chicago Rawhide (CR), has decided to relaunch the CR Seals brand as an uncontaminated product brand within the SKF portfolio.
Founded in 1878, Chicago Rawhide grew into a well-established supplier of sealing solutions across multiple industry sectors, including industrial, automotive, truck, and marine markets. The brand was acquired by SKF in 1990 and was later retired in 2007. Despite this, CR has maintained strong brand recognition, with many distribution partners continuing to use the CR name in the market.
The updated packaging design reflects SKF’s heritage by preserving its classic blue and green colour palette, blue for bearings and green for seals, while introducing graphic elements that highlight the company’s long-standing history and technical expertise. A zoomed-in image of SKF’s iconic wheel bearing serves as the focal point of the design.

Our new pattern highlights these morals in a current and dynamic way and strengthens SKF’s position as an important brand for aftermarket products within our group.”
