Cleaning brand Smol has launched a new range of refillable bottles made from 100% recycled aluminum, aiming to reduce single-use plastic and unnecessary waste for consumers. The latest pattern is obtainable for selected varieties, comprising the company’s Multi-Purpose Spray, Foaming Handwash, Washing Up Liquid, and Stain Gel. Smol says its bottles-for-life are planned to ‘appear beautiful on the counter, not unseen under the sink’. The 300ml Foaming Handwash comes in four colorways: honey, slate, pistachio, and petal, while the 500ml laundry and cleaning bottles feature a two-tone metal appealing. The bottles are designed to work with Smol’s prevailing pumps and triggers, helping reduce unnecessary waste.
Mentioning the promotion, Matt Gandy, Chief Creative Officer at Smol, expressed: “Feedback from consumers was that they loved our recycled plastic bottles but required another method to cut one-time use plastic from their homes, while not conciliatory on aesthetics. Aluminum gives us the chance to provide durable, refillable substitutes that look nice and still have a positive impact on the planet. We’ve selected 100% recycled aluminum, which is stronger and more expensive than foundation, but it’s the right thing to do.”
This year, Evolve Organic Beauty presented two refills of its shower goods in Pulpex’s fiber-based bottles, aiming to reduce packaging waste and to brand its ‘first-ever’ commercial use in personal care. The bottles for the African Orange Aromatic Hand & Body Wash and Superfood Shine Shampoo products allow consumers to refill at home, helping reduce packaging waste and enabling the bottles to be recycled with cardboard and paper.
More recently, personal care brand Wild unveiled its refillable roll-on deodorant, designed by Morrama, with plastic-free refills, aiming to bring circularity and sustainability to the UK deodorant industry. Advanced, in partnership with Shellworks, has prepared a 50ml Vivomer refill from a compostable resource that fully breaks down in soil within a year.
