Mondi Introduced New Kraft Paper: Advanced Offering for Consumer and Industrial Packaging

Mondi, a global leader in packaging, has introduced a new kraft paper designed for both consumer packaging and industrial applications. The new paper is renowned for its strength, high puncture resistance, smooth surface, and extensive capabilities, making it ideal for packaging with enhanced protection and converting needs.

Mondi technical sales service’s Sabrina Klösch said:

“Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible fills a clear gap in the market by combining excellent runnability and high strength with coating-friendly smoothness in one paper. It is, amongst other purposes, ideally suited for use as a base material for our barrier papers, where a uniform, stable surface is essential to achieving consistent coating performance.

The innovation is an advanced paper that helps in bridging the gap between the traditional and machine-based crafts. The paper is mainly suitable for heat-sealable and coated packaging as it offers superior coating coverage and adhesion. The smoothness of the kraft paper also provides a printable and additional benefit on the rougher, natural brown-colored papers.

Sabrina further mentioned that the Kraft paper is a collaboration between R&D, product development and their tech sales service team. She further mentioned the innovation as a team effort that reflects the company’s commitment towards solving sustainability and technical problems of the consumers.

The specialists at Mondi have worked for around three years on the development of this packaging solution, which includes fresh-sourced fibres. It is widely used for packaging products like dry food, toys, spare parts, and many more.

The Kraft paper also aligns with the EU paper recycling streams as it is recyclable, which was confirmed under the 4EG recyclability evaluation protocol. The company also stated that Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown semi-extensible was designed to promote consistent performance and efficiency.
