Raksul Acquires Marutama to Enhance Packaging Capabilities

On March 27, 2025, A Japan-based packaging company has acquired shares in Marutama and Marutama Wel, in an agreement aimed at enhancing their paper shopping bag manufacturing capabilities. The company seeks to expand its market share while focusing on creating valuable synergies and improving consumer engagement. The acquisition will also add value to its existing packaging material business, which will further help boost sales of shopping bags. The acquisition aligns closely with their ‘Medium-Term Financial Policy, ' which was announced in March 2024.

The transfer is scheduled for 1 August 2025, and the company has ensured that the acquisition will not impact its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending 31 July 2024. Marutama and Marutama Wel have reported revenue of Y983m ($6.8m) and a net income of Y55m for their period ending 30 June 2024. The companies' total assets were reported at Y958m, with total common equity amounting to Y803m.
