Florette Relaunches their Vegetable Soups in Sustainable Packaging

In July 2026, Earlier this year, Florette relaunched its vegetable soup lineup. The relaunch majorly focused on new packaging, swapping PET plastic bottles for Pure-Pak Sense cartons. The brand is well-known across Europe and is primarily popular for its fresh vegetables sourced from its cooperative of member farmers.

Highlight on Florette New Soup Packaging

The new packaging defines a switch from PET plastic bottles to 1-litre Pure-Pak Sense cartons. The new cartons are known to provide a larger printable surface for branding, and are also easier to stack during transport and storage. The new packaging is also designed to help protect soups from light, along with aligning with the company’s efforts to lower packaging-related environmental impact. The main aim of introducing sustainable packaging through relaunching the product involves lower usage of plastic and also improving the sustainability of the product.

The newly launched foldable carton design lowers wasted transport space because square packs stack more efficiently than bottles. Improved logistics help to lower the transportation costs and reduce fuel consumption, along with supporting more efficient warehouse operations. The switch to new packaging is the company’s commitment to seeking alternatives to plastic and achieving the goals set out in its climate plan. Part of the plan includes a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 compared to 2019.

New Packaging Supporting the Supermarkets

The newly launched cartons for the soup relaunch of the product have a larger front-display area than the previous bottle packaging. It allows retailers greater shelf visibility for the product range to attract more customers. Improved pack presentation helps to attract more new customers and hence stays longer on the store shelves as well. The square-shaped design of the cartons also helps to simplify transport, pallet loading, and storage as well. The smart design also aids space utilization throughout distribution and helps to improve operational efficiency for retailers and suppliers, handling chilled grocery products.

“This new carton packaging allows us to enhance the visibility of the range in stores thanks to a larger on-pack display area,” said Lionel Manivet, responsible for innovation, Florette France, in a statement. “We work every day to minimize waste, so we have opted for the foldable Sense cartons, which offer practical advantages while helping to reduce food waste.”

Included in the soup relaunch across France in 1-liter Pure-Pak Sense cartons are the following: Garden Vegetables Soup, Six Vegetables Soup (25% reduced salt), Red Kuri Squash and Emmental Soup, Green Vegetable Soup, and, finally, Pumpkin and Carrot Soup.

“Our teams are always looking for ways to improve packaging and make it more sustainable, while preserving the freshness of our fruits and vegetables,” Manivet said. “Square packaging is easier to stack for transport and storage, so there’s less wasted space. That brings cost and fuel savings for our supply chain. Plus, the carton helps protect our vegetables from light, so product quality is protected.”

Which soup varieties are included in the relaunch?

The nationwide French rollout includes five products:

  • Garden Vegetables Soup
  • Six-vegetable soup (25% reduced salt)
  • Red Kuri Squash & Emmental Soup
  • Green Vegetable Soup
  • Pumpkin & Carrot Soup

Each variety is sold in a 1-litre Pure-Pak Sense carton.

Carton Packaging Supporting Sustainability

The company claims that their new carton packaging, in replacement of their old plastic bottle packaging, has an objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2035 compared with 2019. The main aim of changing the packaging was to stay consistent with sustainable packaging options to find better alternatives to plastics, and also to maintain the freshness of the product. The carton packaging also helps the brand to protect the vegetables from light, help preserve the product throughout its shelf life, and complements the company’s wider packaging improvement programme.

Role of Sustainable Packaging in the Food Packaging Industry

A shift of multiple industries from traditional plastic packaging to sustainable packaging has been observed on a large scale across Europe. It helps to improve logistics and meet changing sustainability expectations from retailers and consumers.

The packaging also plays a major role for supermarket suppliers as it not only helps to hit environmental targets but also aids in transport efficiency, shelf impact, and enhances product protection. Carton formats are also preferred by the companies for their product packaging as they improve operational performance and retail presentation.

Future Plans of Florette

The plans of Florette involve the rollout of their vegetable soups in carton packaging across the French market. As food manufacturers continue reviewing packaging formats, retailers and suppliers are expected to place greater emphasis on solutions that combine sustainability, efficient distribution, product protection, and stronger shelf visibility.
