In a move that underscores the rapid transformation of the Middle East into a nexus of technological ambition, LG Electronics has announced a landmark collaboration with Detavolt, Saudi Arabia’s rising data infrastructure powerhouse, to deliver advanced cooling solutions for an artificial intelligence data centre in Oxagon, the industrial heart of the kingdom’s visionary NEOM city project.
The agreement, formalized through a memorandum of understanding, positions LG as a key enabler of the region’s digital ambitions. The South Korean conglomerates will provide sophisticated thermal management systems, including large-scale chillers and coolant distribution units, vital to ensuring the uninterrupted performance and energy efficiency of the hyperscale data facility. The partnership not only highlights LG’s technological prowess but also reflects its growing commitment to the Middle East as a strategic growth frontier.
At the heart of this alliance lies LG’s One LG Solution strategy, a holistic approach that mobilizes the collective expertise of its corporate affiliates. The initiative promises to extend beyond cooling infrastructure, opening pathways to future collaborations with LG Energy Solution for cutting-edge battery systems and LG CNS for integrated data centre design, construction, and operations. By orchestrating such synergies, LG aims to position itself not merely as a vendor but as a comprehensive ecosystem partner for next-generation infrastructure development.
Datavolt, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, brings its own formidable vision to the table. Specializing in hyperscale data centers powered by renewable energy and alternative fuels, the company is intent on building one of the largest and most advanced AI data centers in the region. Located in Oxagon, this flagship facility will serve as both a technological milestone and a symbolic anchor of the kingdom’s pursuit of digital sovereignty, sustainability, and innovation.
Speaking on the collaboration, LG Electronics CEO William Cho articulated the strategic significance of the Middle East and Africa, describing the region as a landscape of tremendous potential. He emphasized the abundance of B2G and B2B opportunities emerging from government-led industrial restructuring and large-scale development projects, arguing that LG must leverage its strong brand identity and differentiated offerings from AI-driven smart solutions to advanced home technologies to capture new vectors of growth across the region.
The partnership between LG and Data Volt thus transcends a mere business arrangement. It epitomizes a broader convergence of industrial ambition, digital transformation, and sustainable innovation. As Saudi Arabia accelerates its diversification agenda under Vision 2030, initiatives like NEOM and Oxagon will require precisely the kind of integrated, future-oriented solutions that LG is poised to deliver.
In this sense, the oxagon project becomes more than just another data center: it is a blueprint for the region’s digital renaissance, where global expertise and local vision intersect to craft a new technological order for the Middle East and beyond.
