Opal Launches New Mango-Shaped Cardboard Pack to Boost Recyclability

Announcement

Under the new packaging trial initiated by the innovative Perfection Fresh and packaging manufacturer, Opal is introducing a kerbside-recyclable cardboard for the summer mango aisle. This comes in Calypso Mango multipacks, now available near the few Coles stores throughout Victoria. The packaging is established collectively by the two companies that offer no plastic alternatives for three-packs of Calypso mangoes. Overall, the packaging format revolves around branding impact, safety and functionality while achieving recyclability goals through standard household recycling streams.

Crafty Solution

The valuable solution is a crafty cardboard carry pack that has a series of open cutouts that enable shoppers to feel and see the freshness of the fruit with the promising, strong, and holdable pack. These cutouts also offer airflow to the fruits freshness across the retail and transport display.

Perfection Fresh and Opal have incorporated a fortified cardboard handle to make it comfortable and easy for shoppers to hold. The miniature form factor is engineered for seamless storage, carry and stacking in a home space. Its an upgrade on traditional plastic and loose fruit formats.

The innovation lead at Perfection Fresh, Liz Pridham, said,

“This partnership strongly mirrors the companys aim to satisfy consumer expectations for more sustainable alternatives. We are continuously seeking ways to respond to the rising demand for an effective, sustainable alternative, so joining hands with Opal has helped us to improve sustainability from the operations start point farm, to the endpoint at consumers kitchens.”

She added,

“This new packaging is beyond promoting sustainability, as the packs seem to enhance the shopping experience, which enables consumers to easily address their favourite striking Calypso blue brand in front of the loud color of the mangoes and feel it. The convenience was a major thought in the packaging design, and Opal successfully met this challenge and discovered functional packaging that can be sophisticatedly stored and carried.”

The general manager, corporate business at Opal, David Pointer, said,

“The project elaborates on how packaging innovation can improve produce protection, consumer appeal and branding. Innovation is crucial in the fresh produce sector, mainly in packaging. The whole team is committed to delivering sustainable cardboard packaging by replacing single-use plastics. The sustainable packaging will serve convenience and performance while highlighting branding. This partnership exemplifies how merging expertise can discover solutions that diminish food waste, maintain freshness, protect produce for the consumer demand for plastic-packaging options.”
