Sacchital, the leading flexible packaging producer, is expanding its excellence by opening a new flexographic printing facility in Pregnana, Italy. The new site will be 2,200 square feet and will be equipped with a robust BOBST VISION CI press, which will operate alongside the company’s existing digital printing and rotogravure operations. The new facility was established by Smart Sacchital’s management team, all backed by the sales manager of flexible packaging at Bobst Italia, Emilio Alliegro. The required guidance and intelligence will meet the satisfactory vision for this facility.
Alberto Palaveri, an executive board member at Sacchital Group, said, “This new site is designed to house four flexo machines and the right technologies. It is a key part of our company’s growth plans. The site represents a dedicated flexo enhancement program aimed at serving a fragmented and well-defined market more precisely and effectively, while keeping costs affordable.”
The new press is designed to meet growing demands for sustainability, speed, and flexibility across different ink systems, finishing processes, and substrates. The VISION CI can handle both long and short production runs, with automated features that improve repeatability, reduce waste, and shorten setup times.
The press is equipped with BOBST’s smartGPS (Graphic Positioning System), which is planned to reduce time, ink waste, and material during the job changes. The press can be processed with water and solvent-related inks via different washing circuits. Alongside, the company is also jointly working with BOBST specialists to optimize the production workflows and future endeavors to ramp up the seven-color extended color gamut (ECG) printing.
The ECG is predicted to support the progress in productivity, color consistency, sustainability, and cost efficiency. Simultaneously, it also helps the downstream processes involving heat sealing, finishing, and varnishing. The BOBST flexible packaging marketing and communication manager, Sara Alexander, said, “The people, innovation, communication, and processes are in speed. People have no time, and customers have no patience to wait for the answers in each sector.”
The company is an expert in paper-related flexible packaging and has retained its position for more than eight years. Sacchital noted yearly revenue of around €140m, with almost half created from exports to the industry involving the U.S., North Africa, and Europe. The company has a total of 400 staff throughout the five production sites, while the new operation in Pregnana Milanese is said to be the heart and original plant among all sites.
