Aligned with the plant to control the force in packaging production and digital labels, Canon is expanding its platform through participation in the FEFCO (European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers) technical seminar 2025. At the FEFCO conference, Canon will introduce its Canon corrPRESS iB17. Its a next-generation inkjet press built primarily for industrial corrugated packaging production. This new press has the potential to handle digital printing around 8,000 m² per hour, which equals 15 million m² annually.
This new invention offers excellent offset quality on corrugated boards, with a 1.7 m wider range of water-based primers and inks for indirect food contact. Its an automated invention that offers convenience and cost-efficient involvement with super-fast turnaround times. Also, it doesnt need high skills and massive operators in action. The corrPRESS iB17 is engineered for smooth integration into existing production environments to ensure comfort. Alongside, it provides digital flexibility and remarkable productivity, extending the economic benefits of digital printing far beyond traditional short-term (temporary) applications.
Standing tall and confident on Canon extensive experience and expertise in commercial digital printing, along with the developmental journey showcased as a concept at drupe 2024, this new digital press will address the emerging needs of corrugated converters. Converters facing pressure from delivery deadlines and varying quality expectations, seeking premium quality and the fastest turnaround times without sacrificing cost efficiency, will find a solution with the Canon corrPRESS iB17. Equipped with exceptional operational features, primarily for industrial-scale applications, it enables cost-efficient production of up to 20,000 m².
This expands digital printings viability. The press is controlled by quality assurance systems and automated printhead cleaning. It reduces the need for operator intervention while increasing production efficiency. The systems design minimizes waste through precise print-on-demand and avoids the use of chemicals and printing plates. Unlike traditional methods, the new press doesnt generate contaminated water, so it doesnt need to be released or filtered into the wastewater system.
The integration of Canon drying technology into the corrPRESS iB17 has reduced energy use, decreased stress on the corrugated board, and improved production efficiency. The innovative press was created by combining proven exclusive inkjet technology with an industrial board transport system.
