Flint Group, a global leader in ink and coating supply for the packaging sector, announced that its nitrocellulose (NC) free ink innovations received recognition from the Flexographic Industry Association (FIA) based in the United Kingdom. The organization has been constantly working on advancing industry growth through education and advocacy.
The new link formations significantly help the flexible packaging printers to meet the stringent demands of changing legislation and also meet the requirements for the new recycling obligations that focus on avoiding the use of NC-based inks.
The company was earlier awarded for its technical innovation in the supplier category in the previous month for innovations in polyurethane-based ink technology series named VertixCode and MatrixCode. These ink series align with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR) as they emphasize recycling infrastructure.
The Vice President of Flint Group, Paul Winstanley, on the award win said that
“It’s an honor that, among such a prestigious community, our innovations in NC-free ink technology were recognized by the FIA UK judges. VertixCode and MatrixCode represent revolutions in flexo and gravure printing, keeping customers ahead of legislative changes with no trade-off between sustainability and performance.” He further added that the flexible packaging printers move away from NC-based formulations, the company remains committed to transitioning to developing sustainable solutions.
Paul also mentioned that the company is proud to be recognized for their commitment and technical innovation. He said that “he thanks FIA UK for acknowledging our achievement. We also extend our congratulations to other award winners.”
Lewis Taylor, the commercial director in Nordic, Ireland, and the UK, added by mentioning that they are proud that the NC-free ink technologies have been recognized by FIA. He also mentioned that the award underlines the ongoing drive to lead the industry in sustainability and innovation.
