JPFL FILMS: Now India’s First Packaging Manufacturer to Launch BOPA Nylon Films

In March 2025, JPFL Films Private Limited, which is a branch of India’s biggest flexible packaging company named Jindal Poly Films Ltd. (JPFL) who will now the first company to launch biaxially oriented polyamide (BOPA) nylon films in India. BOPA film is an excellent barrier and high-strength material generally utilized for packaging purposes. It is considered for its sturdiness and resistance to pinholes, oils, and gases. This new film launch shows the commitment of the company to technological improvement and revolution in manufacturing procedures, improve quality, optimize costs, and ensure huge customer satisfaction.

The company has capitalized Rs. 120 crores at its state-of-the-art facility in Nashik. This capitalization also recaps the strong commitment of JPFL Films to the Indian market. The Deputy CEO (Growth Division), JPFL Films, Dr. Mahesh N. Gopalasamudram, expressed, “With the launch of BOPA Nylon Films, JPFL Films Private Limited has emerged as the first player to bring the innovation to the Indian market. This unique product offers improved mechanical properties and aroma barrier. This will also play a pivotal role in bringing solutions across pharma, medical, FMCG, and food applications. It will be noteworthy to point out that 100% of these films were imported till recently. BOPA films are also produced by our group company, Jindal Nylon films, in Italy. This experience will also help us in serving the Indian customers and bringing global innovation locally.”

BOPA films are extensively utilized in the packaging of food products that require good oil resistance, high strength, good puncture resistance, and high barrier properties, such as retort food packaging, frozen food, and liquid seasoning. These are mainly used in food packaging, pharmaceuticals packaging, agricultural products packaging, electronics products packaging, and cosmetic packaging. These films have unique mechanical properties that comprise barrier properties against gases and aromas. BOPA films are considered versatile, high-quality, and reliable packaging materials. The BOPA film is made up of polyamide 6 (nylon 6) and has several excellent characteristics in comparison with traditional packaging resources such as polyester films and polyvinyl chloride films.
