Development

Kapag and Sappi merged their companies’ expertise to promote a recyclable mono-material solution for food products. The motive for pursuing this solution is to eliminate the use of plastic-based packaging and contribute to a greener future for the next generation. Kapag has introduced a dynamic brand for laminated paperboard products to remove them from the packaging process. The ‘FachPack’ solution is considered for the utilization of the lamination process of the company. This will merge Sappi’s fusion topliner or Algro-designed paperboard with the company’s AvantGuard high-volume barrier paper.

The FachPack noticed the grease barrier because of the Berliner doughnuts packaged. Kapag believes that the same concept can enable an environmentally friendly alternative. It protects the aroma and consists of oxygen barriers, water vapor barriers, and also against other contaminants. This approach will secure printing and give a transitional shift to the performance of Sappi’s paperboard.

Features

The Sappi’s fusion and algro products feature visibility to the outer layer, which gives remarkable printing and finishing results to the packaging. Whereas, the AvantGuard barrier papers enable protection to functional elements. Kapag’s lamination potential to achieve end-to-end process materials, including the width from 5 cm to 250 cm. It can also finish sheet formats up to 360 cm long.

What additional developments are contributing to this solution?

Further, the Kapag company is providing a merger of different materials from laminated papers with a thickness of 5 mm, adding less than 150 microns to it. The partnership is opening possibilities and opportunities to several industries, such as cosmetics, food, healthcare, household, and pet food products.
