Origin Materials Scales PET Bottle Cap Production in Europe

Origin Materials collaborated with Royal Hardijk Packaging, which is a major Dutch manufacturer of sustainable plastic packaging solutions, to mass yield of PET bottle caps. Hordijk’s PET extruders will make extruded sheet for utilizing in CapFormer manufacturer lines, which are maintained by Origin and operated by Hordijk at its European services. These high-speed lines will shift PET sheets into bottle caps, comprising tethered caps, with funding from modern processes and technical facilities.

Hordijk has more than 100 years of practice in packaging invention, with an emphasis on sustainability and a promise to invention in circular packing. Hordijk advances and produces plastic packaging solutions for the food and other engineering segments, helping consumers in more than 25 countries. Hordijk will utilize its PET extruders to generate extruded sheet for using in CapFormer production lines maintained by Origin and operated by Hordijk in Hordijk services in the EU.

The CapFormer lines will change PET sheets into bottle caps, eventually comprising tethered caps, utilizing high-speed apparatus and maintained by world-class processes and technical facilities. Origin Materials CEO John Bissell expressed that Hordijk associates proficient engineering, a strong base of processes in Europe, and noteworthy worldwide reach. Under the collaboration, Hordijk will utilize its PET extruders to make sheet resource for utilizing in CapFormer making lines maintained by Origin but functioned by Hordijk at its European facilities.

The production lines will change PET sheets into bottle caps, comprising tethered caps, using high-speed apparatus. The corporations aim to address what they define as a market surpassing $65 billion. According to the declaration, the PET caps are planned to progress recyclability through structures like cap tethering, permit light-weighting, and extend product shelf life.
