Sabert Disrupts the Food Packaging Market with Game-Changing Solution

Sabert, a leading innovator and inspiration in sustainable food packaging, has been serving grocery stores, restaurants, and food distributors since 1983. Founded by Albert Salama and his team, the company manufactures packaging solutions made from paper, pulp, and plastic, with a core mission to deliver optimal presentation, sustainability, and performance.

The company operates across China, Europe, and North America, delivering sustainable packaging designs that promote both ecosystem protection and food safety. Through its proprietary Packaging Value Model, Sabert integrates food shelf-life optimization with creative design capabilities to deliver high-performance, aesthetically refined packaging solutions.

Sabert launched its impeccable PULPUltra product, ramping up in stores across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Sabert claims that this innovation is a perfect choice for hot and ready-to-eat items that promote fresh food and build trust in it. This product is made from 95% bagasse fibers and is handled with barrier spray layers of <5%. This product offers many reasons to rely on ready-to-eat items and hot food packaging.

PULPUltra addresses the challenges of oil and grease resistance in hot food applications while ensuring effective protection for fresh food products. Already adopted for children’s meal packaging in Ireland and France, including Gastronorm formats, the innovation highlights Sabert’s ongoing commitment to functional and sustainable packaging solutions.

PULPUltra is known as a safe for refrigeration and holds the capacity of freezing, keeping products fresh and integrated. PULPUltra can be used in MerryChef applications, microwaves, and conventional ovens, and it's also convenient for multi-welding or single PET sealing. All these qualities prove Sabert’s commitment to innovative and sensible packaging, as it's also recyclable and aligned with the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and has earned the certification as Compostable TUV OK Compost Industrial.

The company is on its way to receiving home compostable certification soon. Sabert received Green Apple Awards from The Green Organization under National Silver in the Paper & Packaging category.

Senior VP and MD for Sabert Europe, Alex Noake, said, “Many years ago, Sabert was recognized as the first one to introduce functional and quality bagasse pulp packaging solutions to the European market. Now, this groundbreaking PULPUltra is impressive without any unnecessary PFAS formulation, which has satisfied the customers’ demand and legislative standards as well for heat resistance and great power.”
