TOPPAN Inc., together with its India-based arm, TOPPAN Speciality Films Private Limited (TSF), has installed an advanced hybrid manufacturing line capable of producing both biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) and biaxially oriented polyethylene (BOPE) films on the same machine. This innovative setup marks a significant step forward in flexible packaging production, enhancing efficiency, versatility, and sustainability across TOPPAN’s global film operations.
With a proven track record in the production of BOPP films, TSF is now announcing the launch of BOPE production on the new line to meet varying demands. TSF will start mass construction of the new hybrid line from mid-November this year, providing BOPE and BOPP films to packaging converters and worldwide brand owners in segments such as food and FMCG in India and worldwide.
With the outline of the new line, the TOPPAN Group aims to fulfil increasing worldwide demand by improving supply capacity for its extensive, diversified film solutions, comprising both BOPE and BOPP mono-material film substrates, and to increase TSF's film construction capacity by about 40%. The TOPPAN Group is driving digital and sustainability transformations to become an important contributor to solutions to global social issues.
With widespread awareness of the need for environmental sustainability, TOPPAN's packaging business is advancing a global strategy for environmentally friendly, sustainable packaging, with a focus on the growing field of flexible packaging. TOPPAN is advancing technology and charging performance for sustainable packaging by establishing a worldwide supply network from film production to barrier management and package change, thereby confirming end-to-end competencies spanning the supply chain.
As an environmentally progressive region, Europe, in particular, is observing an increasing demand for recyclable mono-material sustainable packaging, necessitating a switch from PET to BOPE and BOPP films. With the new hybrid engineering line, TSF aims to meet this demand by expanding the portfolio and volume of films it can manufacture and by growing the supply of BOPE and BOPP films, which are essential for mono-resource sustainable packaging. Hybrid production of BOPE and BOPP films. A line capable of producing BOPE and BOPP films on the same machine enables effective production of a wide variety of products.
