Berlin Packaging has acquired O Berk Company to strengthen its rigid packaging capabilities and expand its presence in the nutraceutical, beauty, personal care, and pharmaceutical sectors. Berlin Packaging, a universal hybrid packaging supplier, has picked up O.Berk Co., pointing to an extension of its rigid packaging facilities and increasing its position in enhanced-developed sectors comprising nutraceutical, beauty, personal care, and pharmaceutical sectors with the acquisition of O. Berk.

The company was founded in 1910 by Osias Berk in Newark, NJ. O. Berk started as a distributor of jars and bottles, distributing to ethnic food suppliers and local chemical plants. The brand shifted to family ownership in 1925 when Isaac Goldstein obtained it, founding a legacy that remains under fourth-generation management.

Century of Innovation and Growth

O.Berk played an important role through the commercialization of plastic bottles and closures under the governance of Norbert Gaelen, who worked as president from 1951 until 2006. His children, President and CEO Marc Gaelen and his sister Meryl Japha, lead the company, sustaining its dedication to invention and customer service. Marc Gaelen has followed in his father's footsteps, operating as President of the National Association of Container Distributors (NACD).

The company has extended via organic development and planned acquisitions, conducting multiple locations across New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Southern California. O.Berk functions in diverse end markets, comprising household, pharmaceutical, beauty, personal care, nutraceutical, food, and beverage industries.
