Harpak-ULMA Strengthens Production with Grind-Line Tray Sealing Expansion

Harpak-Ulma has announced a purpose-built application of the Mondini Trave Sinfonia platform for high-volume ground-meat manufacturing, offering completely automated, high-quantity tray sealing that redefines presentation expectations.

Sinfonia can double throughput compared to typical mechanical grind-line tray sealers, increasing output from roughly 120 packs per minute to as high as 200 packs per minute. Sinfonias software-measured magnetic-transport architecture offers this by moving trays on independent transport with micro-level accuracy. The advanced design removes belts, pusher arms, and other friction-based machinery that typically compel sealing speed, particularly in low-oxygen MAP applications.

The competitive ceiling for grind-line tray sealing is approximately 120 ppm. With Sinfonia, we can engineer a 200-ppm grind line, nearly a 100% throughput upsurge,” expressed Carlo Bergonzi, product manager, Tray Sealing at Harpak-Ulma. “Sinfonia basically changes whats conceivable in ground-meat tray-sealed packing,” he added. “By supervising each tray independently, we eliminate the mechanical restraints that classically dictate line speed. The result is a faster, cleaner, and far more stable tray-sealing procedure that simply isnt attainable with conventional systems. Given the drive behind meat-brick formats across major retailers, this claim directly addresses the performance discussions were hearing from mainframes as they head into IPPE 2026.”

The configuration incorporates portioning, dual denesting, folding conveyor loading, and a 14-up sealing array, permitting each station to function independently at optimal speed. Sinfonia offers a consistent, contamination-resistant tray path, easier switches, and compact footprint presentation levels that mechanically indexed, traditional arrangements cannot match. Harpak-ULMA reports that this configuration raises production rates from around 120 packs per minute to up to 200 packs per minute, around twice the speed of distinctive mechanical tray sealers utilized in grind-line operations.

The company emphasized that standard mechanical systems depend on components such as pusher arms and belts, which can slow down sealing speeds and are mainly limited to low-oxygen adapted atmosphere packaging

Harpak-ULMA tray sealing product manager Carlo Bergonzi expressed: "The competitive ceiling for grind-line tray sealing is approximately 120ppm. With Sinfonia, we can manufacture a 200ppm grind line with nearly a 100% throughput upsurge. Sinfonia essentially changes whats possible in ground-meat tray-sealed packing.
