Maestrani Optimizes Confectionery Packaging with Advanced Ishida Systems

Maestrani Boosts Chocolate Packaging with New Ishida Weighing System

Maestrani Schweizer Schokoladen AG, a well-established confectionery manufacturer based in East of Switzerland, is currently entering a transformational phase with its packaging system upgrade. The company has improved production of its delicious Minor chocolate products by installing an Ishida packaging system. This system has accelerated the accuracy and speed of the production and packaging process, alongside promoting sustainability.

The one smart investment in equipment led Maestrani toward the beneficial upgradation. The partnership strategy is always a win-win, and by following it, the company has accelerated its business and tech processes.

The company claimed that its current weigher has the potential to handle chocolate piece weights from 5g to 22g at a basic 40 packs per minute, while reducing noise pollution by 85dB. From a business perspective, the key benefit of the brilliant installation was the valuable collaboration with ITECH AG, Ishida’s local distributor.

The Production Manager at Maestrani, Andre Pfister, said,

“The old multihead weigher Maestrani didn’t meet the requirement criteria, also its accuracy was not on point, and the line was not that effective in production. The existing weigher was not satisfying our throughput rates. So, the replacement was important mainly with this emerging volume. As calculated, around 4,500 tons of chocolate start its supply journey from the Flawil factory yearly, and this volume is massive and accelerates one of the confectionery producers.”

This led the company to partner with Ishida for a 14-head multihead weigher, and the installation was seamless throughout. Maestrani stated that the weigher operates in conjunction with its previous VFFS bagmaker and has been refined to handle a wide range of formats, including 1kg pillow cans and packs, as well as 110g stand-up pouches.

Pfister added, “We are very content with the solution, and we’re looking forward to working again and again with ITECH and Ishida. Appreciating the partnership and purposeful goal-oriented project management that has identified all their needs.” Further, he also appreciated the technical support of the investment.

“Once you get in touch with ITECH with the proper requirements you are seeking for the execution will be perfect. This partnership exemplifies how a deep partnership, technical expertise, and accurate planning allow packaging solutions and sustainable weighing production without letting down the spirit of the genuine Swiss chocolate quality.”
