Mondi, a worldwide leader in sustainable packaging and paper, is underlining its promise to drive innovation in eCommerce packaging by merging sophisticated, extensive specialties in packaging, materials, and design processes with cultural art testing touch. The company’s experts coordinate closely with its partners to develop packaging solutions that support their sustainability goals while refining performance across the entire supply chain.
Embarking on this journey, Gavin Mounce joined the company as an eCommerce Application and Innovation Director on 1st November 2025. Gavin brings long-standing experience in packaging innovation and design management on both the supplier and retailer sides. He will be leading the team in continuing the chain of new approaches and strengthening the partnership between Mondi’s product design, converting expertise and paper.

One of Mondi’s excellent innovations to date is its latest ‘Protective Mailer’. It’s a fully recyclable paper mailer that discards the need for plastic bubble wrap. Instead of plastic bubble wrap, the open flute paper is used to provide sustainable protection to the product. This solution was discovered by co-developing with the established online marketplaces, which serves as an inspiring example of Mondi’s approach. Mondi has come a long way from boxes, bags, and paper to serving sustainable packaging solutions.
Apart from this, Mondi’s ISTA-certified testing laboratory monitors innovative performance under honest logistics conditions. Alongside this, the company operates a comprehensive ThinkBox Bupak facility in Budweis, Czech Republic. It’s a customer engagement center, a one-stop center to co-develop packaging samples on the spot, host innovation workshops, and connect with customers’ needs through the company’s packaging expertise.
