Global speciality chemicals leader Nouryon has declared Perkadox® PM-60ST-GR, which is a new organic peroxide expertise for recycled polypropylene that is one of the world's most extensively utilized plastics, and is planned to restore performance in degraded, recycled plastic resource. The first commercially accessible organic peroxide option of its kind, this option allows plastic recyclers, processors, and compounders to utilize more recycled resources in packaging, automotive, and customer products which have conventionally needed virgin polypropylene.
“Recycled plastic has massive potential, but performance restrictions have kept it out of several usages where it could make a substantial difference,” expressed Alain Rynwalt, senior vice president for Performance Materials at Nouryon. “Perkadox replaces what’s possible. For the first time, processors and recyclers have a rational tool to reinstate the performance of recycled polypropylene and get it into presentable, automotive and customer products that the sectors have conventionally presumed required unprocessed plastic. That’s a considerable step forward for our consumers.”
Added through the protrusion step in polymer recycling, Perkadox restores the polymer's molecular organisation, returning the consistency and strength manufacturers require. In testing, the product enhanced the plastic’s barrier to deformation when melted by up to 10 times and raised the melt viscosity, giving workstations more control over the recycled resource’s behaviour during management.
Nouryon is showing Perkadox PM-60ST-GR at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) 2026 in Amsterdam from May 5-6, 2026. Within the brand’s Performance Materials sector, organic peroxides are part of the Polymer Specialities trade unit that sells important solutions for polymer recycling, construction, and modification.
