Optex Innovation Center LLC has officially announced its launch, ushering in an exciting new chapter for the converting industry with its leading bump coating pilot capabilities. Previously operating as SAM-NA Extrusion Technical Center and Optex Process Solutions Inc., the company has rebranded to reflect its renewed vision and mission.
The new name, Optex Innovation Center, emphasizes its role as a key destination for the flexible packaging industry, offering a platform for early-stage innovation, collaborative development, and educational initiatives. Through this transformation, the center aims to support manufacturers, converters, and industry partners in exploring new technologies, refining processes, and accelerating growth opportunities within the flexible packaging sector.
As part of this progress, Ed Lincoln has been chosen as Operations Manager, bringing in years of experience and a deep consideration for the converting industry. Lincoln’s leadership will confirm that Optex Innovation Center continues to offer the enhanced-quality service and technical expertise that consumers have come to assume. Andy Christie, who has controlled the bulge coating pilot lab since 2014, will be actively involved during the transition to provide endurance and support.
Optex Innovation Center is backed by associates of the Siegel family, established advocates for invention and sustainability in flexible packaging and bulge coating. Their investment strengthens the company’s commitment to persist as an independent resource for the industry. The Siegel family also owns Mica Corporation, a reliable provider of water-based primers and coatings for more than 54 years. Both industries will function independently and support the highest standards of privacy and customer trust.
“At Optex Innovation Center, our attention is on helping customers accelerate invention in a safe, confidential, efficient, and supportive way,” expressed Ed Lincoln, Operations Manager. “We offer a collaborative situation where ideas can be tested, refined, and brought to market with confidence.”
Andy Christie, Principal Consultant at Optex Process Solutions Inc., expressed, “SAM North America recognized the Extrusion Technical Center, and from day one, we’ve had the honor of collaborating with consumers from around the world on the growth, validation, and commercialization of advanced products and procedures in packaging and flat die extrusion. Over the years, Optex Process Solutions has sustained to expand these capabilities, and we’ve been privileged to partner with the Siegel family to transmit this vision forward. While stepping away comes with combined emotions, this work has been both challenging and rewarding every single day. I’m confident the business is in superior hands and enthusiastic to see the next chapter unfold.”
