In June 2026, Toppan Ireplast got a silver award at Interpack 2026 in the category of sustainability design. The company recycle-ready mono-material retort pouch solution received an award. The solution is developed in partnership with Toppan Packaging Czech.

The new pouch is made from mono-PP that offers excellent pressure and heat resistance for retort sterilization. The outer layer of the pouch is made from Irplast high-temperature BOPP. This outer layer offers sealing stability and dimensional stability up to a temperature 1370C in retort sterilization. The outer layer provides printability, which is ideal for mono-material composition.

The aluminum foil present in the pouch is replaced with a PP grade of GL barrier. The new grade is produced by TCZ and manufactured using Toppan Proprietary technologies. This grade helps in long-term storage and lowers environmental impact. The packaging is developed according to the mandates of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. The company focuses on providing packaging solutions to applications like sauces, baby foods, and ready meals.

The features of packaging are mono-material structure, outstanding thermostability, aluminum-free configuration, and outstanding outer layer strength. The new packaging pouch supports the extension of packaged products shelf life. The new pouch is manufactured using the company GL Barrier film and IRPLAST special thermostable film. The polypropylene is widely used in the sealing layer, outer layer, and barrier layer of packaging. The new solution is created to lower food waste. The pouch is highly compatible with the existing PP recycling base.
