These investments are a part of the company’s bigger picture to improve label-making technology, where the total amount spent at the site accounts for £2.5m.
Coveris is the only dedicated linerless label manufacturing facility in the UK that produces over one billion labels annually for the European FMCG sector.
The new investment was used to purchase a 10-color MPS flexographic printing machine, which came into action in the previous month (June 2025). The machinery is helping the company to increase its site’s capacity, which helps in fulfilling the rising demand in the United Kingdom. It is also helping them to enter into on-the-go foods and ready meat market.
Nigel Hewitt, sales director, Coveris’ BU Paper, said,
“This latest investment represents another key milestone in our journey to deliver world-class linerless solutions from our Linerless Centre of Excellence. As demand continues to grow across traditional applications and newer categories like ready meals, our expanded capacity and technical capability ensure we remain the partner of choice for sustainable labelling innovation.”
The new machinery can print on both paper and plastic-based materials, which allows the company to focus on multiple operations in less time. The MPS technology includes E-sleeve print that enhances the accuracy and reduces waste.
The new press machine also assures 100% web inspection that improves the consistency, quality, and cold foil embellishment. This is enabling high-impact finishes across Coveris' full range of linerless formats for the companies.
