K J Somaiya Launches New Packaging Machinery Course in India

K.J. Somaiya Industrial Training Institute, India, collaborated with the Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India (IPMMI) to launch a specialized certificate course in Packaging Machinery Operation and Maintenance to bridge the gap between industrial practices and vocational education in the country.

Mr. Shaji Mathew, the principal at K.J. Somaiya Private ITI, inaugurated the electronic mechanic laboratory along with the president of IPMMI, Mr. Mahadevan Iyer, Vice President Vivek Chinoy and the secretary of Somaiya Group, H.S. Kahlon. The first batch has reported 100% admissions, portraying individual interest.

"This course is an important milestone for our institution. It not only brings specialized training to our students but also opens doors to real-world industrial experience," said Mr. Shaji Mathew, Principal of K. J. Somaiya Private ITI. "With packaging being a critical component of every manufacturing sector, this initiative is a step in the right direction."

The program is also backed by multiple industry players through sponsorships and lab equipment. Various companies like Kenray Forming India LLP, IMA PG India, Infinity Automated Solutions Pvt.Ltd, Techno Shell Automation and others have provided lab support. 
Secretary of Somaiya Group, H.S. Kahlon, also expressed that they are committed towards creating meaningful collaborations that will impact society positively. He also believes that the course will help to focus on India’s manufacturing skill sector.

The collaborative initiative is focused on ensuring the inclusion of the latest industry trends and equipment. The President of IPMMI also said,

"Our goal is to equip students with hands-on knowledge in packaging machinery. There is a growing need for skilled manpower in this sector, and we are proud to contribute to skill development at the grassroots level."

The institute believes that the introduction of the course will help in the long term, as packaging is a critical component of each and every manufacturing sector. The rising awareness is also expected to boost the employment rate in the constantly evolving job industry.
