PMMI Foundation, a charitable arm of PMMI, which is the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has announced a donation of $100,000 to the Michigan State University (MSU) School of Packaging from the charitable arm. The major aim behind the funding is to improve the pipeline of skilled professionals who are new to the packaging and processing industry.
The University is one of the first packaging programs in the country that has been driving major growth through improving packaging innovation. The school is also a founding member of PMMI’s education partner program.
Laura Bix, Ph.D, associate dean for graduate studies at MSU, said,
“The MSU School of Packaging appreciates our partnership with PMMI.â¯The incredible breadth of member companies not only provides a direct link to partners with practical knowledge and expertise regarding processes and machinery, but PMMI’s generous matching program and its flexibility in use have enabled us to meet varied and many needs as they arise.”
He further added,
“I am confident in the tangible benefit that this support provides now and into the future.”
PMMI is committed to expanding packaging education apart from only providing financial support. They are also focusing on empowering schools with resources, technology, industry connections, and support for the students to succeed in the packaging and processing sector.
Kate Torrence, the workforce development director at PMMI, said that they are proud to continue their support to MSU he emphasized that they are a long-term partner in developing the next generation of professionals in the packaging industry. He also believes that the MSU school of packaging has an impact on the industry that drives investment in the same for student innovation and collaboration.
