ProAmpac, a leading flexible packaging company, partnered with ScottsMiracle-Gro to introduce a ‘spouted pouch for Ortho Home Defense Max’. The innovation provides durable, rigid containers with the efficiency of flexible packaging and a sustainable alternative for consumers.

The senior packaging engineer at ScottsMiracle-Gro said that the new Ortho Home Defense Max packaging represents a major step towards sustainability and consumer convenience. He also mentioned that the collaboration has managed to reduce the plastic packaging footprint.

The packaging design portrays ProAmpac’s chemical and UV-resistant printing and laminating technology, which ensures durability and advanced sustainability. The new packaging allows consumers to conveniently refill their current dispensing systems rather than raising a requirement for a new one. This is considered to be a big step in reducing the plastic use per unit and also easing consumer use.

The company mentioned that the transition from a rigid container to a pouch uses 90% less plastic, which also lightens the overall weight and is better optimized for online distribution channels like e-commerce. The packaging also doesn’t affect the quantity of the pest control solutions and also reduces their environmental impact.

Isha Labhasetwar, the product development manager at ProAmpac said “Our goal was to create a packaging solution that meets sustainability targets without compromising performance, By transitioning from a rigid container to a flexible pouch, this innovative design not only reduces plastic waste but also improves ease of use for consumers and aligns perfectly with e-commerce logistics.”
