A leading Belgium-based printing company, Vitrapack, has increased its production capacity by installing a new Bobst Expert CI flexo press. This press allows Vitrapack to mitigate the main waste and time issues while simultaneously ensuring excellent print quality throughout its entire operation line. Continuing a 20-year collaboration, Bobst embedded Vitrapack into its 10-color Expert CI press, engineered to maintain consistent, efficient processing. The processing that confirms the increased print speed and the 1300 mm web width execution.
The delegated administrator and co-owner at Vitrapack, Jan Laeremans, said,
“Our two 20SIX presses and first Bobst press in 2009 achieved a certain level of tremendous success, so we are confident enough to go ahead with another Bobst press, but we were seeking a vast spectrum of specifications. Our search ends at the new Expert CI, as it holds 25% of the potential value.”
Bobst stated that Vitrapack’s decision to install the Expert CI was prioritized first to identify the customization and sustainability trends in the packaging market. This partnership is another layer of collaboration with Rask, the repro sister and pre-press, data-fuelled consulting service company of Co-efficient and Vitrapack.
Laeremans said,
“With the help of Co-efficient’s support and expertise, we can bring the best of the best improvement in the equipment effectiveness area and could cut the waste and press time for color and ink adjustments. As a result, ink usage was limited, and we ended up with less residual ink. Their best expertise is important in optimising our color matching processes to promise consistency and accuracy with less waste.”
Additionally, the machine provides impressive process control and color accuracy, combined with smartGPS technology and modern automation, enabling the fastest job changeovers with less substrate waste.
The Expert CI is operational alongside the existing two Bobst presses at Vitrapak’s facility. The press is fully equipped with the Surface Matrix intercolor drying system, which helps prevent substrate stretching. The print machine is also equipped with the AV 3.O smartGPS system initially reduces material waste and setup time by streamlining the process.
The technology sales director at Bobst, Marco Carrara, said,
“Vitrapack has quickly witnessed a strong positive difference from this installation of the Bobst Expert CI, with a solid acceleration in volume and a genuine mitigation in waste and time.”
