Glebe Farm Foods has established a new on-site paper packing machine as part of its huge sustainability plan, improving the company to trial recyclable paper packing around its retail oat item variety. The speculation was part-funded via Huntingdonshire District Council’s Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), which helps rural trade investment in tools, capabilities, and economic development initiatives.
The industry’s flagship PureOaty porridge oats are the first goods to go through the paper packaging trial and are now offered in recyclable paper bags, combined with the presented packaging plan. Glebe Farm Foods expressed that the shift toward paper packaging shows rising customer demand for a recyclable substitute to plastic packaging within the food & beverage industry.
The new paper bags are manufactured from correctly sourced resources and are completely recyclable, with removal supervision clearly revealed on the pack. “We’re always monitoring for ways to be more sustainable as a food & drink producer and shifting to paper packaging is a crucial step for us,” expressed Philip Rayner, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Glebe Farm Foods.
“Today’s shoppers are producing more determined options, aggressively looking for recyclable packaging and shifting away from brands that depend on avoidable plastic, a shift which we are enchanted to see. But we honestly believe new paper packaging isn’t just safe for trade; it’s the right thing to do for our consumer and the planet.”
Glebe Farm Foods expressed that its vertically incorporated supply chain model helps both good traceability and ecological performance. Unlike many food producers, the company develops and mills its own oats or sources them from farmers positioned within a 70-mile radius before packing products on site. This permits products to be outlined from pitch to shelf while decreasing ecological impact across sourcing and manufacturing operations. The accumulation of paper packaging compliance also generates potential chances to help other food & beverage companies looking to shift towards more sustainable packaging designs without investing in their own technology.
