Digital Innovation: Shaping the Future of Hanois Agriculture

Hanois Digital Innovation Transforms Agriculture with AI, Blockchain, and E-commerce

In the emerging AI competition, Hanoi has attracted and empowered the agricultural production market by introducing digital technology applications in agriculture, integrating artificial intelligence (AI), eHAP solutions, remote sensing, and blockchain technology to maintain and track the origins of livestock, supply chains, aquatic products, and crops. The city has helped farmers introduce their agricultural products on trending e-commerce platforms. This will confirm the originality of the products origin and fuel the rural digital economy.

The primary results so far are positive, and the application of digital technology in agricultural production is still limited. The major reasons involve the high capital requirements of Industry 4.0 agriculture and tech, a shortage of financial resources among investors and farmers, inconsistent policies from municipal and central authorities, and fragmented and small-scale farming practices. Following this, the investment activities are hindered and have only covered a few stages of the agricultural value chain on a small platform.

In response to these challenges, Hanoi aims to leverage the application of digital technology in the agricultural sector by implementing this plan. 73/KH-UBND was declared on 12th March 2025, issued by the municipal peoples committee, establishing high-tech agriculture in accordance with the 2030 predicted expedition. The plan focuses on enhancing efficiency, modernizing production, and shifting towards sustainable agriculture by fueling the digital transition and the application of technologies such as IoT and AI.

The deputy director of the municipal department of agriculture and environment, Ta Van Tuong, said, “In the coming time, this technology will continue to align best with the suitable sectors, local authorities, and departments to contribute to enterprises and cooperatives in integrating digital technology into the agricultural production. This involves efficient management systems, transparency, developing an automatic monitoring network (to forecast, adjust, track agricultural production), and digitization of safe production processes in line with climatic and environmental conditions.”

Tuong added, “Hanoi will fuel the development of a vast database on aquatic, crops, and livestock products to deliver guidance and planning to the development of the safe, circular, and highest scale production areas. This generates added value for capitalization of the agricultural products and boosts a modern agricultural economy dependent on green, intelligent, and circular growth models.”

Farmers are the king ruling production, with the adoption of digitization. This will further help farmers to operate independently in the mass agricultural production market.
