Poland-based dairy producer Polmlek has implemented a state-of-the-art aseptic filling line from IMA FillShape to facilitate the production of a new range of dairy products and desserts packaged in spouted pouches. This strategic investment allows the company to enhance its packaging capabilities while addressing changing consumer demands for convenient and lightweight packaging formats.
The new packaging options utilize the Ermetika Aseptic EAS240, a constant-motion rotary filler capable of producing up to 240 pouches per minute. The system works with pre-made pouches, spouts, and caps, and comprises internal and external purification utilizing vaporized hydrogen peroxide to uphold aseptic conditions through the filling and capping procedures.
Spouted pouches are collected on a welding carousel before sterilization and are filled and sealed inside a sterile isolator. Dedicated processes help with cleaning and sterilization cycles, confirming hygiene and compliance with aseptic processing needs.
Polmlek is utilizing the new line to fill an extended portfolio of goods comprising a homogenized cheese, strawberry dairy items, prebiotic strawberry dairy, nut and chocolate milk desserts, and a strawberry-flavored dessert under the Poezja LUX brand. The technology permits production of prolonged shelf-life products for refrigerated supply with a shelf life of up to 60 days, as well as completely aseptic high- and low-acid products that can be stored at ambient temperature for six to 12 months.
Polmlek’s vice president, Monika Białobrzewska, expressed that the new aseptic production line is an important milestone for the company. She said that the installation of Poland’s first aseptic spouted pouch rotary filler provides Polmlek a competitive benefit by launching ESL and aseptic dairy products and desserts in advanced packaging. Spouted pouches are situated as a practical option for consumption in offices, hotels, cafés, and on-the-go environments.
IMA Fillshape distributed the Ermetika Aseptic EAS240, a constant-motion rotary filler capable of manufacturing 240 pouches per minute. The system works with pre-made caps, pouches, and spouts and is planned for both low-acid and high-acid applications. Spouted pouches are collected on the welding carousel and sterilized internally and externally utilizing VHP (Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide). Caps are also VHP-sterilized and applied inside the sterile isolator.
