As of January 2026, SmartSolve is eager to officially announce the launch of PureNilTM 0, a breakthrough packaging substrate and the world’s first plastic-free, 100% bio-based, and flushable material, planned to replace one-time-use plastics in consumer-packaged products.
PureNil™ 0 was first introduced to the public in October 2025 and is now commercially available following successful validation, testing, and engineering scale-up. The solution has progressed through SmartSolve’s rigorous stage-gate research and development process, meeting all predefined technical, performance, and quality verification milestones along the way. With these requirements fulfilled, PureNil™ 0 has been formally approved as a new commercial product offering. Technology has now entered the ramp-up phase of manufacturing, enabled broader market availability, and supported customer adoption on a scale.
PureNil™ 0 was recognized to fulfill the emerging demand for sustainable packaging materials that provide the functionality of conventional flexible films without dependency on fossil-derived plastics. The material combines durability, printability, and water solubility in a single substrate, offering brands a forward-thinking auxiliary that aligns with developing ecological prospects and regulatory firmness. Intended for real-world engineering surroundings, PureNil™ 0 allows brands to transition to plastic-free packaging substrata without forgoing presentation, efficiency, or design flexibility.
PureNil™ 0 is a water-soluble packing substrate engineered exactly for dry or crushed product preparations. The resources run on standard form, fill, and seal apparatus, permitting manufacturers to accept plastic-free options without requiring equipment alterations or process changes.
PureNil™ 0 is also entirely printable, allowing for printing on unit-dose usages, permitting high-quality branding, clear goods communication, and graphic diversity across an extensive variety of package sizes. Furthermore, it helps as an undoubted plastic-free substitute to PVA films, supporting brands' efforts for emerging legislative requirements while conserving product defense, consumers' printability, and convenience.
As SmartSolve’s first direct food interaction accepted invention, PureNil™ 0 enlarges the company’s portfolio by opening up new opportunities such as confection packaging, snack preparations that do not require high barrier properties, and crushed beverage mixes.
PureNil™ 0 is focused on direct food contact and molded in ISO and FSSC 22000 compliant facilities, strengthening SmartSolve’s commitment to security, quality, and supervisory readiness. The resource proposes the functionality of traditional flexible films while supporting brands as they navigate developing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements.
