Benelux Advances Eco-Friendly Packaging with Wider Plastic-Free Produce Options

As witnessed, the Fresh produce suppliers based in Benelux are finding it difficult to comply with the new European packaging regulations while simultaneously managing the protective and efficient packaging formats. For concern, this SoFruPak and Quality Pack partnership will focus on identifying the root causes of these challenges by making SoFruPak’s plastic-free packaging potential accessible to every company throughout the region.

The Benelux's motto is plastic-free, fresh-produce packaging. Companies across the region will receive an accurate solution, and in return, their contributions will play a crucial role in protecting the environment by promoting sustainability.

The smart partnership initiative has led Benelux into a revolutionary era that will support development and help many other companies implement the same by joining hands, whether with a business mindset or a concern for the environment. The packaging of the eatables has to be safe, as food wrapped in plastic can affect health, and an improved solution is essential.

The SoFruPak’s packaging lines utilise the cardboard merged with cellulose film. This film material contains no plastic and is engineered to help maintain product freshness. The packaging specifically is suitable for biodegradable and recyclable processes within 24 weeks. This time frame is sufficient, as cellulose and cardboard film can be processed together in one go. Following this, the system grants an excellent option for PET packaging. It’s beneficial enough as per the stringent regulatory requirements.

The Commercial Director of SoFruPak, Adam Sikorski, said, “Our valuable collaboration with Quality Pack enables us to present meaningful, sustainable packaging solutions to the Benelux market. Together we have made it seamless for the companies to build innovation nd development strategy, keeping consumer demand and regulatory requirements for eco-friendly packaging in mind."

A partnership that aligns well with ongoing EU legislation is an advantage. This requires a wide range of materials to implement environmentally friendly solutions in vegetable and fruit packaging. Keeping this in mind, the SoFruPak has been a leader in the fresh produce sector for decades and has also been recognized for its commendable packaging concepts between 2016 and 2023.

This partnership provides packaging access to Benelux packers, auctions, and growers. The sustainable impact and positive change in the supply chain, driven by reduced plastic use, will enhance the company’s recognition and empower many others to adopt the same.
