UPM Adhesive Materials has launched a new collection of premium label materials designed for wine and spirits packaging. The collection expands the company’s sample folder, now available across South America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. The company’s label material sample folder supports the printers, which act as a bridge to offer a premium alternative to their customers.
The solution’s main focus is to help brands present and classify their products more accurately, reaching and touching the core of logic across a wide range of the population through packaging materials and designs.
The senior manager, Global Marketing at UPM Adhesive Materials, Lisbeth Saarinen, said, “The printers engaged in spirits and wine brands go through high expectations from different concerned groups for technical reliability and visual impact. Our premium label materials are engineered to fulfil these demands and promise consistent performance and seamless conversion throughout the product lifecycle.”
The company partnered with design agencies to create labels for prominent alcoholic beverages in each region. The designers were set free to present their cultural significance and translate their version of a premium experience and understanding. The specific designs highlight the global perspective. The perspective involves Robilant from Italy, which developed a concept for champagne; Denomination from Australia, which aimed to produce white wine; and Excel Design Shenzhen from China, which created a design for baijiu.
Many other regions and their leading players have contributed significantly to advancing UPM’s design (label) plan, either by collaborating or developing new designs and strategies. To implement these designs, UPM aligned with H+M and Kurz, specialised in their respective areas of stamping tools and surface finishing. As hot stamping transfers tooling and materials, and is considered for expert printing on the packaging.
Apart from this, the Verallia and Vinolok partnership with producers of glass packaging and closures has given the value chain collaboration a positive push and support for every label concept.
The updated sample folder features five premium label materials, each paired with a printed example showcasing the performance and aesthetics of UPM’s materials, including embellishments and design elements. The folder also includes unprinted sheets and removable labels with technical specifications, allowing printers to test on-bottle application and adhesive performance.
