Cortec is diving deep into its barrier paper offerings by aligning sustainability with the latest packaging trends. Industries seeking eco-friendly alternatives to barrier packaging should take note of the new EcoBio Barrier Paper, which offers responsible, safe packaging solutions. This premium product is biodegradable, recyclable, and repulpable, perfectly supporting the principles of a circular economy. Cortec’s EcoBio Barrier Paper is designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging in a world focused on environmental responsibility.
The EcoBio Barrier Paper is made with 100% recycled paper stock, coated with biodegradable barrier coatings per OECD 301, and biobased, containing 90-100% renewable organic carbon per ASTM D6866. Complementary to the traditional barrier packaging that highly depends on foil or polyethylene to generate a barrier. The EcoBio Barrier Paper has no such purpose to contain PFAS or plastics, or fluorochemicals that disturb biodegradation or recycling.
EcoBio Barrier Paper has similar properties to EcoShield Recyclable Barrier Paper, as the new Barrier Paper can be recycled via common paper recycling streams without struggling in landfills. EcoBio Barrier Paper has entered a new phase with its biobased, biodegradable coating, which can unlock more sustainable end-of-life shelf options in line with local regulations. Mainly, the EcoBio Barrier Paper focuses on grease and moisture resistance without posing a risk of foil or plastic pollution.
The Linerboard and EcoBio Barrier Paper can be used in various short-term packaging applications that prioritise grease or moisture resistance. The barrier serves its purpose well, as it can prevent moisture from entering or exiting the package area, maintain packaging integrity, and prevent oil or grease seepage if grease or moisture is applied.
The products rolled in EcoBio Barrier Paper will remain dry as the shipment travels through unexpected environments, with changing weather and humidity. EcoBio Barrier Paper is commercially available as a linerboard that can be used to line wooden cardboard, crates, or boxes, which have a natural ability to absorb moisture. This keeps goods away from direct contact with the cracked walls of the package.
EcoBio Barrier Paper can also be used in barrier packaging to prevent grease or moisture from leaching out of the package. For instance, the metal auto parts are slightly brushed with oils that absorb into and separate normal paper. With these smart, sustainable packaging solutions, Cortec maintains its position as a leader in establishing industrial packaging alternatives.
