Rossmanns new e-commerce warehouse in Hanover, Germany, replaces plastic bubble wrap with Papairs paper-based solutions. Papairs customized airbags and paper sheets package around 9,000 products daily across Denmark and Germany. Now, it will serve its long-term partner, Rossmanns new warehouse. Rossmann was looking for plastic-free packaging options to protect products. Since 2021, Rossmann and Papair have been partners. Now, Rossmann fully adopts Papairs paper wrap in its new warehouse.
Simon Fuhse, the head of product availability at Rossmann, stated, “With the help of Papairs customized solution, we had the opportunity to incorporate the largest portion of cushion packaging directly into our picking process. This greatly simplifies our workflow.”
The CEO of Papair, Christopher Feist, said, “Weve been working closely for a long time with Rossmanns logistics experts for the online area when required and analyzed all the alternatives in detail. This revealed packaging solutions. Rossmann uses this solution in its regular shipping process. This indicates that we are on the right track with our new initiatives, with significant potential next door in savings across various other industries.”
In 2023, Papair introduced its Papairwrap (paper bubble wrap) and paper packaging solutions. The goal was to offer more alternatives to traditional plastic packaging. Production officially started in August 2023 at its own facility in Rethem, Germany. Papair emphasizes that the partnership highlights the paper packaging solutions as an environmentally responsible option with an economic benefit. For Rossmann, the collaboration enhances the regional economy by relying on direct procurement from Papair.
With increasing competition among brands and products, impressive and sustainable packaging stands out by enhancing the companys product value and receiving praise for its packaging approach. Rossmanns full integration of Papairs packaging solution into its new warehouse will help advance the eco-friendly and sustainable packaging market. The latest paper packaging innovations, featuring James Cropper, a UK-based paper company, showcased its Coloursource range at London Packaging Week 2025.
This development initiative enables estimating the demand and acceptance of paper packaging, encouraging innovation and new approaches with versatile packaging options. Rossmanns choice to incorporate paper bubble wrap will strengthen its logistics capabilities in its new warehouse.
