Siegwerk Druckfarben, an ink and coating supplier, announced an agreement to purchase Allinova, a chemicals company specialising in chemicals, to enhance its packaging coating portfolio and boost the growth strategy on a global level. The company aims to improve its reach from converters to paper mills and film manufacturing operations.
The business head at Siegwerk, Gilles Le Moigne, said that Allinova solutions is the perfect fit for their product portfolio that accelerates the mission for providing innovative and sustainable coating solutions in the global packaging market. He further expressed that the acquisition will enable them to combine the technical capabilities and expertise of both companies.
Allinova, a Netherlands-based company, has expertise in formulating water-based dispersions, adhesives, and wax emulsions. The acquisition aims to extend the company’s growth in application-specific solutions.
The Founder and owner of Allinova, Gijs Elfrink, said that Siegwerk will integrate their expertise into a larger organization, which will help in advancing its products in the global market.
Siegwerk CEO Nicolas Wiedmann said,
“By acquiring Allinova, Siegwerk is doubling down on our global expertise in the area of functional coatings and therefore strengthening our position to serve our customers even better as an enabler of circular packaging solutions across all applications and technologies.”
Earlier this year, Siegwerk established a new business unit for functional coating that aims to focus on sustainable packaging innovations, which align with the circular economy adoption.
The acquisition is also a strategic move that includes the 2022 La Sorgente purchase, a crucial ink supplier for flexographic printing in Italy. The CEC unit is being looked at as a hub for circular solutions that align with conventional coating offerings of the company.
The move between Allinova and Siegwerk also came to an agreement, where they decided to keep the financial details confidential.
