Newship Group acquired Norfolk-based Coda Plastics and Campbell & Tate, which is Coda’s parent company. This acquisition has brought a crucial and valuable extension to Newship’s packaging portfolio. This business strategy and the transaction, backed by FRP Corporate Finance, rank and motivate the Group to develop a robust, pan-European packaging solution to increase business and growth in its portfolio line.
Coda Plastics is a long-established producer of rigid plastic packaging, serving clients such as popular brands, household names, and Original Source, Revlon, and Imperial Leather. The company is one of the UK’s major independent manufacturers in the highly competitive packaging industry, operating across various flexible technologies and producing 20+ million caps, closures, and bottles each month.
Whereas Newship Group is a UK-based family-owned organization with a strong interest in construction, premium hire, and design. With this smart advisory support and acquisition, both companies have come forward with their respective specializations and expertise to soon enter the vast packaging market.
In this acquisition, the FRP Corporate Finance’s Norwich team, managed by Assistant Manager Cameron Robertson and Director Alex Hunton, is the main adviser to Coda Plastics. They will be leading a competitive sales process. With this, Newship will be addressed as a preferred acquirer and will cover due diligence and negotiation guidance, with a few documentation completions. The acquisition powers up Newship Group’s packaging division, which already involves crucial European rigid packaging distributor Pont Europe and Beatson Clark, a glass manufacturer.
Coda Plastics’ potential will add depth and value to Newship’s offering. This will allow customers to meet complete packaging solutions throughout various technologies, markets, and materials.
Director at FRP Corporate Finance, Alex Hunton, said,
“The team at Coda Plastics has built a strong recognition in the market. This deal will allow this reputation to accelerate and take a leap to the next level of growth. Coda Plastics has a strong, ideal partner in Newship Group, which offers contrasting offerings and shares a joint ambition, deep alignment in values, and valuable expertise. I’m looking forward to where this business idea will take us in the near future together.”
Managing director at Coda Plastics, Nick Tate, shared his excitement about working with Newship Group and hopes to bring a brighter, stronger future in light of our people and customers.
