Pakka, a registered entity at the NSE since 2023, specializes in sustainable food packaging solutions mainly made from agricultural remains like bagasse. The company’s Ayodhya location currently houses a pulp plant, three paper machineries, and a moulded fiber unit producing foodservice ware under the Chuk brand, including its well-known compostable bagasse food trays.
As part of its ongoing growth and development strategy, Pakka is making a strategic entry into the greaseproof and flexible packaging paper sector. Following an extensive evaluation and selection process, the company has chosen Allimand, the renowned French paper machine manufacturer, as its partner for this specialized project. This collaboration marks a significant step for Pakka, enabling it to leverage Allimand’s advanced technological expertise to establish a state-of-the-art production facility tailored to meet the evolving demands of the sustainable packaging market. Through this partnership, Pakka aims to expand its product portfolio, enhance manufacturing capabilities, and strengthen its position in the rapidly growing eco-friendly packaging sector.
The new high-tech paper machine, designed with a daily capacity of 115 tons, will feature Allimand’s signature S hydraulic headbox with a dilution regulator, an inertial shaking unit, a shoe press with a transmission belt, SC Sizer, and soft calenders. This state-of-the-art setup is expected to strengthen Pakka’s position in the paper market while solidifying Allimand’s strong presence in India.
Pakka Limited, formerly known as Yash Papers Limited, is working towards transforming the Indian food packaging industry through its focus on sustainability and innovation. Established in 1981, the company has become a global leader in compostable packaging solutions, aiming to protect a cleaner planet for future generations. Pakka emphasizes providing compostable and regenerative alternatives to non-compostable multilayer flexible packaging, single-use plastics, and Styrofoam, which can take decades to decompose.
At the core of Pakka’s sustainability vision is its main manufacturing facility, equipped with an 8.5 MW plant that generates electricity entirely from biomass energy. The facility sources local raw materials and fuel, and achieves an impressive 95% recovery of cooking chemicals used in production. This eco-friendly commitment extends to a strong emphasis on innovation and research and development. Pakka actively pursues groundbreaking products and processes across various sectors, including fiber, pulp, paper, biopolymers, molded products, waste management, and more.
